 Coaching

Currently the coaching model at Plano Rec. (using tehback room at Liberty) is not the most efficient way to run the program. I absolutely have no issues with the curent coach & he is defintely qualified & taht is not at all an issue.

Problem is that , it seems to be that there are not enough students in the class. This is  because it seems the coaching schedule has to be published in a brochure & I think the fixed & rigid scheduled time is the problem.  I do not see why the coaching hours have to be rigid & fixed. Why can't this coach & other coaches conduct one of one classes any time they like using barriered tables at Oak Point & Carpenter Park & possibly at Sam Johnson Senior Center & barriered outside area at TMRC ?

I realize the city of course collects a fee for allowing the use of facilities. This is perfectly fine. But why can't the coaches set their hours ?  If Plano rec. wants,  you can make the student make a payment directly to Plano rec. first for each session or for a month or three months or whatever & then Plano Rec. can reimburse the coach.

It would be better to use a monthly or quarterly payment method because most people don't realize how difficult the learning of table-tennis as a sport can be and even 1 month is not sufficient. Also most players may keep coming back if they slowly get better & likley to reregister again If you collect on a per session basis, there is a 99% probability that tehy may not come back for a second lesson, once they realize how difficult table-tennis is as a sport.

I have to give credit to Plano Rec. on this because Plano Rec. did ask me to bring to them more coaches to register.  But I did not pursue this further because without barriered courts at 2 or 3 or 4 of above centers I talked about, coaching would not be very effective at TMRC (inside the gym) or Liberty (inside the gym) because this coaching may interfere with regular members & also multi-ball is not possible with tables not barriered.

I know Carpenter Park gets very busy at times but I think there is lots of excess free unused hours available both at Carpenter Park & Oak Point that coaches can use to generate revenue for Plano Rec. Additional capacity would alsobe available if another table (total 2) can be setup in area outside gym in TMRC as well as at Sam Johnson even if only at one or two of the 3 rserved session times on Monday or Wednesday or Friday.
